Description Sunrize Chick Peas - these have a nutty flavour and are very versatile. They are native to the Orient and the Middle East and have been a staple in the Mediterranean diet for hundreds of years. They are packed with vitamins, minerals and proteins and because they contain soluble fibre, they can help lower cholesterol!
The Sunrize Fact-ory Chickpeas were grown in some areas of Germany for use as a coffee substitute in the First World War.
Usage Great in both hot and cold dishes including salads, stews, pasta dishes, ground into flour called Gram, soups, blended to make houmous or roasted. To cook: Soak overnight in clean cold water. Drain the next morning and replace water to cover peas by 5cm. Fast boil for 10 mins. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 1-2 hours or until tender. Drain and save cooking water as this contains B Vitamins and can be used in recipes requiring liquid.

On the Label Chick peas are both delicious and versatile! Great in Indian cuisine, they are also the basis for Hummous when blended with Tahini, lemon, olive oil and garlic.
Directions for use: Soak the peas overnight in cold water. After soaking, replace water and bring to the boil in a large pan, then simmer for approx 45mins or until soft. At this point, they can be frozen in batches with some of the cooking water, or used straight away.
